011 - Phil Donnelly (Mayfair Bakery & Patisserie)

Mayfair Bakery & Patisserie is a Port Adelaide institution, and has been for 154 years.
This week I interview the owner, Phil Donnelly, about Mayfair and his journey owning it.
We talk about how the Port has changed over the past few decades, his role in revitalising the bakery, how he handled the COVID restrictions, and the potential return of a famous Dockside Festival event.

010 - Emma Collins (Poetry At The Port)

Poetry At The Port is the newest open mic poetry night in Port Adelaide. It's on at Milledges Distillation on the second Thursday of every month at 7pm, and is open to all who wish to attend.
Emma Collins runs these nights, and I sat down to talk with her about a bunch of things, including:
Her public speaking journey through Toastmasters
The Fringe show she produced last year
Mental health and other issues in the western world
Meditation
What it means to "be like the pigeon". You'll have to listen to find out what that means!

007 - Gaye Moran

In episode 7 I spoke to local resident, Gaye Moran.
Gaye moved to Australia from the USA in the 1960's with her ex-husband, and hasn't looked back since. I met her grandaughter at Studio 99 who told me just a little slice of Gaye's story, and I was instantly hooked.
Our conversation serves as it's own little bit of cultural history of Adelaide, as told through Gaye's eyes. Get ready for more nostalgia than you can poke a stick at.

006 - Snooks La Vie

Episode 6 brings one of my favourite Port Adelaide locals to the podcast, Snooks La Vie
As one half of Courts & Snooks, he plays blues harmonica around the Port and the greater Adelaide area, often gracing the stage at such venues as the Grace Emily, Memphis Slims, and our very own Studio 99.
He tells us about growing up around the Port, how he started playing music, and how he got his name. The answer is somewhere in the episode.

005 - Mayor Claire Boan

On episode 5 of That Port Adelaide Show I interview the Mayor of Port Adelaide Enfield, Claire Boan
We talk about a wide range of topics, including her decision to run for council in 2010, her transition to Mayor in 2018, how COVID changed council, as well as the inaugural Dockside Festival in 2022 and plans for the future.

004 - Councillor Vanessa Tulloch

Today's guest is one of two councillor's for Outer Harbor Ward, Vanessa Tulloch.
We had a wide ranging conversation about local council matters, some great venues in the Port, and whether I need planning permission to have goats on my property. I'm not sure we ever cleared it up.
